Sole trader is cheaper and simpler. A company (Pty Ltd) can limit personal liability but costs more and has more reporting. There is no single right answer — it depends on risk, tax and growth plans. See business.gov.au structures, then talk to an accountant if unsure.

Use ABLIS (Australian Business Licence and Information Service). Filter by your business type and location. Food, trades, beauty, childcare and transport commonly need permits.
Where do I find grants?
Use the official Grants and programs finder on business.gov.au. We do not keep our own grants list because conditions and closing dates change often. Also check your state small-business hub.
